Downtrend – June 21, 2013

With both the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq experiencing major down days yesterday the market went into a new downtrend. As I warned in the blog post of June 14th there was a chance that the previous uptrend would not follow through. The market action in the previous two days certainly proved this to be true.

Uptrend – June 14, 2013

The market went into a new uptrend again yesterday with the strongest percentage gain since January 2. This is only two days after it went into a downtrend. With the increasing weakness that the market has shown in recent weeks, there is a chance that the signaled uptrend might not follow through. Continue to watch the market action closely and especially the action of leading stocks.

Downtrend – June 12, 2013

US stock markets went into a new downtrend yesterday with adding yet another to the several days of heavy selling seen lately. This is a strong indicator that institutional investors are selling stocks. The stock market declined earlier in June as well falling back to its 50-day line and then bounced from there. What was not encouraging with that bounce however was that it came with low volumes. Watch how the stock indices reacts when they approach their 50-day lines again, this could give strong indications for the next moves of the market.

A new downtrend means that you should be cautious with your stock holdings and if you don’t sell all your stocks now, at least make sure that you do not let any of your winnings turn into losses.

The main reason we have seen the stock market going up this year is due to the stimulus efforts from the Fed and other central banks around the world. The underlying economic condition continues to be bad. I have been predicting that we will enter a period of deflation which will lead to an economic depression for many years now and there has certainly been nothing in terms of economic uplift or changes in policies over these years that have convinced me to change my stance; rather quite the opposite.

Uptrend – April 29, 2013

The stock market entered into a new uptrend today with the Nasdaq breaking through 3,300 and setting a multiyear high not seen since Nov. 8, 2000.

The market went into a downtrend again yesterday with all major indexes falling hard on high volumes. The Nasdaq closed below it 50 day moving average for the first time this year.

Uptrend – March 6, 2013

After only a short week of trending down the market went into a new uptrend yesterday. The Dow Jones made a new all time high while the Nasdaq and the S&P 500 met levels not seen since November 2000 and November 2007 respectively.
